Odette. I started out with ulcertive coalitis in 1988 and now they call it crohns coalitis, I am having a flare up now and have just completed a remacade treatment, It doesnt seem to be helping so far. what would be the next step in controling this flare up. thanks Bill

Hi Billy,
It is not uncommon for Colitis to turn into Crohn's Disease. It appears you may have a combination of both since they call it Crohn's Colitis.
If you have only had 1 infusion, you should still have 2 to go, it should work. Please be sure that you ask your doctor for an immune supressent drug, that will help lenghten the life of the remicade.
Watch what you eat. Those of us with this disease can not eat like other folks. Foods and stress can bring on an attack. Should you need help on what foods to stay away from, let me know.
Best of luck,
odette
Thanks so much for your time and answer. Yes I do need a list of foods, I was told, if it hurts you dont eat it. well thats kind of vague to say the least, thanks again Billy
AnswerGood Evenng Billy,
Yep, sounds like something someone would say if they don't
have an answer.
Good rule of thumb, if a normal person has a hard time digesting it, we can't and that makes us ill. For example, corn! Things like corn make our intestines work so hard that it causes an attack.
Stay away rom fried foods as much as possible. Stay away from Pork as well. For some reason it causes us to go to the bathroom more than we should. Spicy foods can also bring on an attack.
It is a trial & error thing. At first, I would write down what upset me and tried eating it again later, finding out that it was indeed what caused my attack.
Hope this helps and please don't hesitate to contact me anytime.
