Cross Stitch/Overdyed Floss

Question
Dear Angela,

I have a pattern which says to use two strands when using regular cotten floss, but to use one strand when using overdyed floss.  When it comes to overdyed floss, what constitutes "a strand"? Do you separate the individual threads the same way you do with regular cotton floss?

Thank You!
Sandra

Answer
Hello, Sandra :)

Floss comes in 6 strand skeins.  Typically, 2 strands of the floss is used to cross stitch with.  Overdyed floss is simply floss that's been overdyed, and it also 6 strands.  I think what your pattern is asking is that you separate 1 strand of the overdyed floss, and use that where it needs to be on the pattern.

I hope that helps. :)

Good luck, and happy stitching! :)

Sincerely,

Angela :)
