Question
I have a pattern using 18 count Aida, design size being 12x14, and fabric size being 16x18.  I would like to use 14 count Aida. What size should my fabric be for the 14 count?

Answer
Lori,

I will be happy to help you with this. Because the design size is 12 x 14, I am guessing that the stitch count is about 216 x 252. To figure the fabric size, you need to divide the stitch count by the fabric count that you want to use.

Here is an approximation of yours.

216 / 14 = 15.5 + 6 (3 inches per side for framing - 2 inches minimum) = 21.5

252 / 14 = 18 + 6 = 24

So your fabric size would be 21.5 x 24.

I hope this helps. Please feel free to ask more questions as they arise!

Happy Stitching!
Kris
