Question
QUESTION: I have a 32 page cross stitch pattern.  When one column on page 28 ends with #230 and the column on page 29  starts all over again with #10, where does #10 start in relation to the rest of the pattern?  I hope that I've made this clear and any help that you can give would be appreciated.

ANSWER: Hello, Glenna

These types of patterns should have a page number somewhere on them.  And/or in the instructions on the legend page, there should be some notations where the person who created the pattern would have told the stitcher how the pages are layed out.  I am currently stitching a 6 page design, and there are notations in the instructions section of the legend on where the pages should.  Plus, the pages also have page numbers on them.

I hope that helps.  Good luck, and happy stitching! :)

Sincerely,

Angela :)

QUESTION: Hi Angela,
Thanks for replying to my question.
The pages are numbered but I still don't understand why page 28 which ends with column #230 would not, in succession, as the other pages do, continue on page 29 with 231, 232,etc rather than start over again with 10, 20,30, etc.  Could this possibly mean that on this particular column I should be moving down to the next row of the design & back to the beginning of the pattern where I started with column 10 on page 1?

Answer
Hello, Glenna

I don't think that I'm completely following your follow up question.  The only thing that I can suggest is if your pattern has a colored picture of it completed, try laying out the pages that you think would correspond to the colored picture (like a jigsaw puzzle), and see if that helps you.  Sometimes, when you lay them out and try to replicate the colored picture, it may become clearer to you in the process.

Sincerely,

Angela

I have 22+ years of cross stitching experience, which includes stitching on Aida, evenweave linen, vinyl canvas, and have stitched a design on a cotton t-shirt using waste canvas. I have also worked with beads and blending filament in quite a few projects. I have made many projects which include cross stitched mugs, a keychain, pictures, magnets, and the cotton t-shirt. I can answer questions pertaining to preparing and cleaning fabric, preparing clothing for stitching, how many threads to be used on which Aida cloth, and will try to help you to the best of my ability with other questions you may have. I am prompt in my responses and usually answer within 24 hours from when you ask your question. I look forward to helping you. :)
