Question
I working on a project that ask you to use DMC thread.  When I go to the store to get the numbers I need some are there.  How can I find the same color thread but another number.

Answer
Shanna,

I think I understand what you are asking. Your local store does not have all the colors, correct? The way DMC is made - each number is a specific color. There are color families that the next number up or down is a shade or two different. You can try to chose the next closest shade or you can contact an on-line store to purchase the ones you are missing. There are several good ones. You can do a google search.

I recommend 2 stores because I have had great service from both, but there are lots more out there that are wonderful also. I typically order from Stitches N Things (located in Michigan) www.stitchesnthings.com or the Stitch and Frame Shop (in South Carolina) www.stitchandframeshop.com. They both have great customer service. Or you can see if you have a local cross stitch shop.

Good luck on your piece.
Happy Stitching!
