Question The new pattern I just purchased is to be stitched on 22 ct. aida with an overall size of 12"w x 15-1/8"h. The stitch count is 264w x 335h. I would really like for the finished size to be larger, more like 18"w or larger what size aida cloth do I need to buy and which count do I get?
Answer Hello, Tammy
22 count Aida is an evenweave fabric, which is to be stitched over 2 threads for a look that's comparable to Aida, or even over 2 fabric thread using 1 strand of floss for a much smaller result.
In order to achieve the desired effect that you're looking for, I would recommend stitching your project onto 11 count Aida. You would probably need to use 3 strands of floss in order to cover the fabric properly underneath. I can't guarantee that stitching onto 11 count will give you the exact measurements that you are seeking.
I hope that helps. Good luck, and happy stitching! :)
