Question i purchased a kit which has 28 count evenweave... the kit says 10.5" X 14.25"....I would like the finished piece to be LARGER. what count aida cloth should i buy??
Answer Hello, Libby :)
You can stitch your design onto either 16 count or 11 count Aida to make your design larger. Or, you could also try stitching the design over 4 threads of the 28 count evenweave, instead of the recommended 2 threads (using 2 strands of floss).
If you'd like to stitch your fabric on the 16 count, I would suggest using either 2-3 strands of floss (you'll need to experiment for the desired affect). With 11 count Aida, I would suggest using 3-4 strands of floss (again, you'll need to experiment to achieve the desired affect).
Be sure that if you choose Aida, add an additional 6" to the design size, and cut the fabric 16.5"x20.25". This will allow you to have extra room for matting.
I hope that helps. Good luck, and happy stitching! :)
