Question
Hi, I enjoy cross-stitching bookmarks on Aida scraps and always have trouble finishing off the edges so that they won't fray. What is the best way to secure the edges? I have recently discovered the Aida product designed for making bookmarks, but I need to finish off the ones I have already stitched. I want them to last when I give them away. Thanks, I value your assistance.

Answer
Margaret,

My best suggestion is a button hole stitch. Try www.about.com for a good explanation of this stitch. Another thing I could recommend is fray-check. It is a glue like substance that you put just on the edges of the fabric. You could then, do a decorative over the edge.

I wish I had more for you. Of you need more help, please don't hesitate to ask!

Happy Stitching!
