Question
I have found the perfect pattern for my mums birthday (in 2.5wk) The pattern is on 28count evenweave and i would like to do it on 14 count aida as i have alot on stock. The pattern says stitch count 104 high x 106 wide. design area 28 count fabric (over 2 threads of the fabric)? 18.5x19cm (7 1/2 x7 1/2 in). How do i convert this ? would i still sew 1 cross stich? And what size would my end piece be. Thank you so much

Answer
Sarah,

First let me apologize for taking so long to get back to you. We had an unexpected death in the family and it has taken me a little while to get things back to normal.

Now to answer your question. The count of fabric is used to determine how many threads per inch. So 14 count means 14 threads per inch. If you stitch over 1 on 14 count, you will have 14 stitches per inch. If you stitch over one on 28 count, you will have 28 stitches per inch. If you stitch over 2 on 28 count you will have 14 stitches per inch. So stitching over 1 on 14 count is the same as stitching over 2 on 28 count. I hope this was helpful! And again, I am so sorry for taking so long to get back to you.Good luck with your project!

Happy Stitching!
