Cross Stitch/cross stitch over one on linen 30 count

Question
I'm starting a rather large piece on 30-count linen which I want to work 'over one'.  Should I work my stitches in rows (as I do on other fabrics) or complete each stitch as I go along?  It is a solid chart - no fabric showing at all in the design.

Answer
Lisa,

Hi there! Sounds like an ambitious project! When I work on linen, I always complete each stitch. You get better tension that way and if you work in rows, the stitches may slip because of the loose weave of the linen. Also, I am sure that you realize the piece will be half the size if you work over 1. I bet it will be gorgeous though. I quite often work pieces on a smaller fabric then the recommended. It gives it a beautiful effect!

Happy Stitching!
