Question
Hi can you help me please, I'm just starting on a Mirabilia patern but, once i didn't find the 32 count Chestnut Linen, I'm going to work on fabric Wichelt 14 (AIDA). My question is if on the Wichelt I also work on a 2 over 2 count?
Thank for the help

Answer
Paula,

No, you will want to work over 1 on 14 count. When you work over 2 on a 32 count linen, your piece will be the same size as a if you worked it over 1 on a 16 count linen. On the 14 count, it will be a little larger, so make sure to cut the piece of fabric bigger then what it calls for. The best way to determine fabric cut size is to use this equation -

design stitch count/fabric count(and remember if you are working over 2 to divide the fabric count in half)and add at least 4 to the result for finishing.

So if your design stitch count is 140 x 280 and you are working on 14 count over one or 28 count over 2, then your result would be:

140/14 = 10 + 4 = 14 and

280/14 = 20 + 4 = 24

So your cut size would be 14 x 24.

I hope this helps! Good luck with your project - Miribilia's are beautiful. I just finished one recently.

Happy Stitching!
