Cross Stitch/Cross stitching on washable items, like towel and aprons

Question
I've just begun cross stitching and I'm only doing practical items like kitchen towels.  I'm concerned about the stitching being secure enough to go through the laundry multiple times.  Is there a more secure way to deal with the ends of the thread than running it under the other stitches?

Answer
Nichol,

You can iron on some interfacing to the back of the piece that will help protect the stitching. If you look at the back of the decorated towels in the store, they have this on them. You can buy it at fabric shops. There is a kind that you stitch on and one that you iron on.

I hope this helps!

Happy Stitching!
