Cross Stitch/chart size

Question
the pattern I have is based on using 14 count fabric and the chart stitches are 177x209 what does that equate to?  I will probaby do on 32 count linen so I want to know how big a piece of linen I will need (including the 2" allowance).  Thanks.

Answer
Carolyn,

I will be happy to help with this question. If you are working on 32 count, I have to assume that you will be stitching over 2. This means you will have 16 stitches per inch. So you divide your stitch count by your stitches per inch.
177/14 = 12.7 (I round up) so 13 + 4 (2 inches per side) = 17.
And 209/14 = 14.9 or 15 + 4 = 19.
So cut your fabric 17 x 19.
I hope this was helpful. Good luck with your project.

Happy Stitching!
Kris
