Cross Stitch/Fabric Types

Question
I have been cross stitching for almost 25 years and was always a fan of Aida. Recently, I switched and did my last two huge projects on evenweave. Could you explain to me the differences between them? For instance, Lugana vs. Monaco vs. Jobelan Vs. Jubilee vs. Jazlyn. I understand they are made of different fibers or fiber blends, but what does this mean for the end result of the fabric itself? Are they different in texture, stiffness, look, or some other ways? These are all things I just don't know without ordering each one and I feel that that would be a waste.

Thanks so much for your time :)

Answer
Beverly,

The biggest difference in these fabrics are what they are made of - cotton vs. polyster and the blends of each. There are differences in texture and stiffness. But most of the time, there is little difference in the final outcome. I have used all of these fabrics and have had wonderful results. My favorites are Lugana, Jobelan and Jubilee. I usually see what fabric is recommended for the design and go from there.

It is really a matter of personal preference. I wish I could be of more help.

Happy Stitching!
