Question
I am stitching a Christmas stocking, Sugar N Spice from the Better Homes & Gardens Cross Stitch & Country Crafts periodical.   I am using 25 ct lugana, stitched over 2 threads.  Three strands of floss are used.  However, on my piece, you can see more fabric.   On the model in the magazines, it looks like you can see no material thru the threads.   Each stitch completely covers the square but mine don't look like that.   Do you have any recommendations?

Answer
Ruby,

Hi! First, let me apologize for not getting back to you sooner. Life got in the way.

Now, for your question. The Better Homes and Gardens stockings are beautiful. They are probably using 4 strands of floss to get the coverage. This can get bulky looking, if you do not take the time to make sure that the stitches are lying flat. If you already have a lot stitched, I would keep going with three. When it is finished it will still look wonderful, And from a distance, you will not see the fabric as much.

I hope this was helpful. Please feel free to ask more questions, if you have any!

Happy Stitching!
Kris
