Cross Stitch/Transfering pattern on fabric

Question
I am teaching some young girls to cross stitch and have this very simple pattern on the computer.  Part of the pattern has actual x's to show the girls where to and "how" to stitch.  I plan on using muslin for the project that is slightly smaller than letter size paper.  My question is, what is the best way to transfer this image onto the fabric?  I have heard of iron on transfers, but does that interfere with the actual stitching?

Answer
Hello, Kim

I've never transferred any patterns onto iron-on transfers before, and then ironed them onto fabric.  I have always found the center of the fabric, and then found the center of the pattern, and began stitching the design while following the chart.

I apologize for not being able to help you with this.

Sincerely,

Angela

Expertise

I have 22+ years of cross stitching experience, which includes stitching on Aida, evenweave linen, vinyl canvas, and have stitched a design on a cotton t-shirt using waste canvas. I have also worked with beads and blending filament in quite a few projects. I have made many projects which include cross stitched mugs, a keychain, pictures, magnets, and the cotton t-shirt. I can answer questions pertaining to preparing and cleaning fabric, preparing clothing for stitching, how many threads to be used on which Aida cloth, and will try to help you to the best of my ability with other questions you may have. I am prompt in my responses and usually answer within 24 hours from when you ask your question. I look forward to helping you. :)
