Question
I HAVE DESIGN A CROSS STITCH FSU INDIAN MASCOT FACE ON AIDA 22 CT CLOTH AND I WANT TO MAKE A PILLOW WITH IT ON THE FRONT.  CAN YOU GIVE ME STEP BY STEP DIRECTIONS FROM CUTTING THE CLOTH TO TRANSFERING IT TO THE PILLOW?

Answer
Julie,

I hope I can help you with this question. I am not quite sure if I understand it correctly. When I make a  pillow, I cut the cross stitch fabric 2 inches larger on each side then the pillow is going to be. So if the finished size is 10 x 10, I cut the fabric 14 x 14. I also cut the fabric for the back of the pillow the same size. I places the two pieces of fabric together with what will be the front and the back facing each other. I sew a 2 inch seam all the way around except for about a 2 or 3 inch opening on one side. I then turn it out (push the right sides out through the hole). After I do that I stuff the pillow with fiberfill and then hand sew the remaining seam.

There are pillow forms that you buy also instead of fiber fill. I have seen where some people have hemmed up the cross stitch piece to the right size and then sewed it directly on a premade pillow, but not sure how well that would hold up.

I hope I was able to answer your question. Please feel free to ask me more questions!

Happy Stitching!
Kris
