Cross Stitch/Using a 18 ct design on 28 ct fabric

Question
Hello! I am just about to start a baby blanket using a design that calls for 18ct evenweave. I like the look of 28ct much better and want to give it a try. Is there a way to convert this design for 28ct fabric so that I end up with the same size blanket/design? The original design is supposed to end up to be 30X30 inches and I'd like mine to be that size, but on the 28ct fabric. I might be better off just getting a 28ct design, but thought I'd find out if I can use the design I already have. Thank you so much for your help!

Answer
Lisa,

I too love 28 count! The problem will be that when you work on 28 count, you work over 2 and it is the same size as working on 14 count. So your piece will come out larger then if you worked it on 18 count. It would come out to be about 38 x 38.

If you decided to change designs, look for something on 14 count. You can still use 28 count fabric and stitch over two. Please feel free to ask me for directions on how to stitch over two if you don not already know!

Happy Stitching!
