Question
My husband and I move every year to another state and I would like to do a cross stitch for each state using the state flags, but I can't seem to find any anywhere. Any suggestions i would like them to be about 5 X 7 size.  I have looked in stores and on the internet, but can only find Texas. in a 3 X 2 size.

Answer
Hello Lynn,

Great ideas to document your travels through cross stitch.

It is hard to find state flag patterns, especially in the size that you want. I found a few patterns for you. However, you may need to do some modifying in order to fit the measurements that you want.

Also, try printing out a color copy of the flags you want. Then place a cross stitch or graphing patter over it. Shine a light underneath the two papers and mark the design on the grid. This is how you create your own pattern. It is what I lot of cross stitchers do when they just can't find the pattern they want - they create their own!

Below is the website that carries a few flag designs.
I hope this helps.

Experience

Needlecrafts have been a part of my life for years. I sew, cross stitch, knit, crochet and bobbin lace, just to name a few. Cross stitch was one of the firsat crafts that I learned as a child and has stayed with me as a wonderful and peaceful artistic way to express myself.
