Cross Stitch/GROSSS POP!

Question
:_(   Can you help me? I am in the middle of doing a cross-stitch. One night after doing a little work, I set my project down for the night and went to bed. When I got up the next morning I spotted a pop can had somehow become overturned overtop of my cross-stitch. After assessing the situation, the only damage is one or two dark spots of root beer, above my work. However its on a part that wont get covered by stitches and that will remain white.  :(
Will pop come out??
Can you help me?

Answer
Hello, Danielle :)

You can try cleaning your work by doing the following steps.

1.  In a clean sink, partially fill it with tepid (barely warm to the touch) water, and add either mild dishwashing soap or mild laundry detergent to it.

2.  Place your work into the water, and allow to soak for about 5 minutes.

3.  Gently swish the project around to remove any soiling that may be still left on it.  If there is some soiling still visible, use a very clean (brand new) tooth brush to gently brush these areas clean.

4.  Rinse in cold water, and then lay it flat on a towel.  Roll the project into the towel to remove excess water.

5.  With an iron preset to cotton with steam, iron the project on the back side (reverse) until the wrinkles come out.  If you still see wrinkles, use a spray bottle and spray some more water on it, then re-iron.

6.  Lay flat, or hang to dry.

I hope this helps. :)  Good luck, and happy stitching! :)

Sincerely,

Angela :)

I have 22+ years of cross stitching experience, which includes stitching on Aida, evenweave linen, vinyl canvas, and have stitched a design on a cotton t-shirt using waste canvas. I have also worked with beads and blending filament in quite a few projects. I have made many projects which include cross stitched mugs, a keychain, pictures, magnets, and the cotton t-shirt. I can answer questions pertaining to preparing and cleaning fabric, preparing clothing for stitching, how many threads to be used on which Aida cloth, and will try to help you to the best of my ability with other questions you may have. I am prompt in my responses and usually answer within 24 hours from when you ask your question. I look forward to helping you. :)
