Answer
Hello, Josephine

Unfortunately, the dielots for the DMC floss has changed over the years.  I have noticed that, too, when I've been stitching patterns.  You purhase a new skein of floss, and notice that the new color doesn't quite match up with the old one.

Gorse yellow 441 = No such number on the DMC list

Cerise 678 = No such number on the DMC list

Geranium 734 = Olive Green Light DMC color 734

Tangerine 514 = No such number on the DMC list

Cardinal 740 = Tangerine DMC color 740

Grass green 497,499,496 = No such numbers on DMC list

Colbalt blue 507 = No such number on DMC list

Buttercup 960 = No such number on DMC list

AmberGold 798 = Delft Blue Dark DMC color 798

Crimson 597 = Turquoise DMC color 597

Marigold 538 = No such number on DMC list

Rasberry 842,844 = Beige Brown Very Light is 842 DMC color list; Beaver Gray Ultra Dark is 844 DMC color list

Periwinkle 605 = Cranberry Very Light is 605 DMC color list

Kingfisher 621 = No such number on DMC color list

Here's what I can give you with regards to the above.  Keep in mind that all colors won't be listed on the DMC list that I have.

Gorse yellow 441 = I've never heard of this color, nor don't know what shade it is.

Cerise 678 = As above.

Geranium 734 = Geranium Pale 957, or Geranium 956

Tangerine 514 = Tangerine Light 742; Tangerine Medium 741 or Tangerine 740

Cardinal 740 = I'm not sure if this color closely resembles Christmas Red or Garnet.

Grass green 497,499,496 = There's a wide variety of green colors on the DMC list.  They range from:  Celadon Green, Pistachio Green, Forest Green, Parrot Green, Jade Green, Baby Green, Nile Green, Emerald Green, Chartreuse Green, Kelly Green, Christmas Green, Yellow Green, Hunter Green, Avocado Green, Moss Green, Olive Green, Pine Green, Khaki Green, Green Gray, Fern Green, Blue Green

Colbalt blue 507 = You could try Royal Blue 797, Royal Blue Dark 796, or Royal Blue Very Dark 820

Buttercup 960 = Again, you could try Canary Bright 973, or Canary Deep 972

AmberGold 798 = I'm not 100% sure this is in the Old Gold DMC family, hence I didn't make a suggestion.

Crimson 597 = I'm not sure if this color is more suited to be Christmas Red or Garnet.

Marigold 538 = I'm not sure what can come close to this one.

Rasberry 842,844 = Again, I'm not sure what color can come close this one.

Periwinkle 605 = I think this is more of a purple blue color, however, am not sure what would be suitable.

Kingfisher 621 =  Never heard of this color before, nor would know what to suggest.

Here's a link to the colors of the DMC chart that may be of some help to you.

Good luck, and happy stitching! :)

Sincerely,

Angela :)

I have 22+ years of cross stitching experience, which includes stitching on Aida, evenweave linen, vinyl canvas, and have stitched a design on a cotton t-shirt using waste canvas. I have also worked with beads and blending filament in quite a few projects. I have made many projects which include cross stitched mugs, a keychain, pictures, magnets, and the cotton t-shirt. I can answer questions pertaining to preparing and cleaning fabric, preparing clothing for stitching, how many threads to be used on which Aida cloth, and will try to help you to the best of my ability with other questions you may have. I am prompt in my responses and usually answer within 24 hours from when you ask your question. I look forward to helping you. :)
