Cross Stitch - fabric size

Expert: Vinette de Phillipe - 5/12/2007

Question
How is the best way to determine how much fabric you need when you have the design size? For example, if my design size is 9 3/8 X 12 1/4 inches, how much fabric should I buy?

Answer
HI Beverly
There is not one answer to your question.  The size depends on the type of fabric you choose.  Fabrics range from 22 per inch  to as few as 3 or 4 per inch.

Here is an online calculator for you.  Just plug in the items required and it will tell you the size of the cloth you need
