Question
So I want to take my 12 year old daughter on a vacation.  We have never been anywhere and I have always wanted to go on a cruise.  I need to be able to plan in advance %26 make payments.  I have no clue where to start. Galveston is the best departure for port for us. It would just be the 2 of us so I don't want something that would have kids %26 adults separated all the time.  What cabins are best? I basically know nothing!Any light you could shed would be helpful!

Answer
Hi Jennifer,
What a great vacation to choose. You get so much for your money on a cruise. Galveston has some great cruises from what I've seen. We love Royal Caribbean and I know the Voyager of the Seas sails out of Galveston. It's a big and beautiful ship. Other cruise lines sail out of there also, and I'm sure you can find a good deal on any of them. As far as cabins go, it just depends on what you want to spend. My husband and I usually get an inside cabin, they are the cheapest. We have friends that never book anything but a balcony cabin. It's all just a matter of preference. I will give you some websites so that you can do some more research. If you aren't able to find your answers, you can always message me back too. Sometimes you can find answers right on the cruise's websites also.
Good luck in your cruise planning! :-)  Becky

http://www.cruisecritic.com/ (These 3 sites are similar and free to use, but Cruise Critic was the first and is the busiest...you can also go on the message boards and talk to people on there if you have questions about anything/everything cruise related...you can also talk to people who have been on the same ship you've booked and even talk to people who will be on your same sailing too.)

I love cruising! I've been on Royal Caribbean the most, and I've also been on NCL, Princess, and Carnival. I'm most familiar with Caribbean sailings. Feel free to ask me any questions though. If I don't know the answer, I will try to find it, and if I can't, I'll direct you to some good cruise sites where you can find the info that you're looking for.
