Cult Movies/Which horror movie?

Question
I've been trying to track down a horror movie I saw long ago.  I *think* it was a late-80s film, but I'm not sure.  The plot had a little boy and his mother being chased by a cult that thought the boy was the son of satan.  A police officer was helping the mother and son escape.  The chase ended in a barn, where there was a big fight between the cult and the family + cop.  The cop realized the truth when during the fight, which was won by the family, the family dog was critically hurt, yet came back to life after.

I don't remember any actors in the film.  It was strictly a B movie, but still it was entertaining.

Thanks for any help.

-Jeff

Answer
Hi Jeff,

Sorry for the delay with getting back to you, but have been a busy of late with work, etc.

Not quite sure what this film is, though will take a guess and say it might be a 1988 film called "Watchers", which is based on the Dean Koontz hit novel of the same name.

"Based on a novel by Dean Koontz. A boy takes in a stray dog, later finding out that its an ultra-intelligent runaway from a genetic research lab. Unknow to him, the dog is being stalked by another escaped creature thats not quite so friendly."

Here is the film's trailer:

DVD copies are readily available from Amazon.com or ebay, among other online DVD retailers.

Best of luck!
