Question
There was a movie, black %26 white (likely an older film, but possibly a more modern "retro" B%26W film) which had a woman who was a murderess and she killed people with an axe (also maybe a guillotine once?). I also seem to remember she used a piece of wood to chop down on instead of hitting her victim directly, but that may not be true. It seemed that people knew she was crazy and maybe also killing people but did not do anything about it. At the end, I remember she was about to jump off a cliff (or some other high object) and a man tried to stop her to tell her who she is, and she replies she knows who she is and jumps.

That's all I have. Disjointed I know, but I'm positive it exists but I can't find it or anything about it anywhere. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Answer
Hi Phil,

I'm thinking the movie you are looking for is possibly the Mike Myers comedy from 1993 called "So I Married an Axe Murderer". The film involves both an axe murderess and rooftop climax, so am assuming it has to be this film (even if it's a comedy). There may also have been murder scenes (flashbacks) filmed in black and white, so...

Plot summary from imdb.com:

"Charlie MacKenzie is a dedicated San Francisco coffeehouse poet, whose poems revolve around his numerous failed relationships. Every one that ends on his doing because of some weird, inexcusable paranoia. His best friend Tony and mother May can only criticize him for his wrong-doings. But Charlie believes he very well may have found the perfect woman in Harriet, a meat butcher with a heart of gold. But Charlie begins suspecting something about Harriet that may not be so perfect."

Or, perhaps it's "Strait-Jacket" (1964):

Other than that, you could always try asking another "expert" here on this site, or place your enquiry in imdb.com's handy "I Need To Know" section on their message boards here:
