Question
Many years ago in the late seventies or early eighties I saw a movie on television which has haunted me till this day but I cant find its name. The story was set in a city suffering from some plague/illness and there were huge trucks collecting dead bodies but we found out that these bodies wre being taken to a factory and turned in high protein biscuits and these were distributed free to all citizens it was a movie that i still remember please can you help me to find its name?

Answer
Hi Halim,

I think the film you are looking for is called "Soylent Green" (1973). It stars Charlton Heston, Leigh Taylor Young, and Chuck Connors, among others.

A plot summary from imdb.com follows: "A tale of Earth in despair in 2022. Natural food like fruits, vegetables, and meat among others are now extinct. Earth is overpopulated and New York City has 40 million starving, poverty stricken people. The only way they survive is with water rations and eating a mysterious food called Soylent. A detective investigates the murder of the president of the Soylent company. The truth he uncovers is more disturbing than the Earth in turmoil when he learns the secret ingredient of Soylent Green."

*The film, which is loosely based upon the 1966 science fiction novel Make Room! Make Room!, by Harry Harrison, won the Nebula Award for Best Dramatic Presentation and the Saturn Award for Best Science Fiction Film in 1973.

I will attempt to answer any questions in regard to weird, offbeat, twisted horror/cult/drama films. I also have a fairly broad knowledge of drama and comedy, particularly British films.

Experience

I am a avid horror movie fan who grew watching Evil Dead, Re-Animator, Dawn Of The Dead, Return Of The Living Dead, Demons, Xtro, Night Of The Demons...etc. I have various Charles S. Balun books and other assorted horror guides for reference if needed. As well as horror/cult films, I watch a lot of drama - particularly British films.
