Question
I remember seeing this movie in the very early 90's. I'm sure it's a little older then that. I've only seen it once but remember a few things very vividly.

From what I can remember, there are 3 children, I believe 1 girl and 2 boys. Home alone in this house, I can remember it being nighttime and thunder storms outside I remember big holes in the ground and in the house. But the one thing I remember most is that one of the boys ends up with an eyeball in the palm of his hand he stabs it with a piece of glass. I hope this is enough and I hope you can help, i've been dying to find out the name of this movie so I can buy it and watch it again.

Answer
Hi Paul,

The movie you're looking for is called "The Gate" which was made in 1987, and starred a young Stephen Dorff. A plot summary from imdb.com follows:

"The boy Glen (Stephen Dorff) and his best fried Terry (Louis Tripp) accidentally open a gate to hell when a rotten tree is removed from the backyard of Glen's house. When his dog die and a friend of Glen's sister, the teenager Alexandra (Christa Denton), buries the animal in the hole, demons from an ancient civilization are released, seeking for two human sacrifices to dominate the world. Glen, Al and Terry, who are spending the weekend alone in the house, fight to save their lives and close the hole."
