Dear Herschel
I live in Syria a place where it is very hard to get "good" movies. it is always about "Hits", ppl like Titanic and Brave Heart and American Pie and this kind of movies, the worst is people who likes Vendame movies!!
anyway I recently watched Donnie Darko (ofcourse i did not buy it from here i get it from Lebanon on DVD (Pirated DVD) I can not easily afford DVDs)
anyway I loved this movie, I really loved it, but the wired thing I loved it thoguh i did not understand it!
did u watch it can you explaint the main idea of the movie i can not get it right!

I watched memento too, and i loved it.

2. did u ever heared or watched about a Japanese movie called Eureka it seems to be one of the best movies ever made. I really want to watch it and i know i wont be able to do it cause i wont find it!

ps: I appologise, I dont want to stereotype things but when i say ppl i mean most people ..so i appologise for the other little part ;) I am just angry not to find movies i want to watch.

hey, I have never gotten an email question from Syria, pretty cool anyway you picked some a great movie to watch.  I feel your pain, the Titanic and American Pie watchers are everwhere.  I hate when Hollywood thinks that the world is dumber than it really is, and puts out such dribble just low balling but I bet 70% percent of the films that come out are powdered sugar crap.
Anyway Donnie Darko is based on a childrens book.  My take on the film which I can't speak for the writers and director, but  it deals with the how one effects and affects the whole.  The  dark bunny is his  acting  angel or   guide to show him what could be if  one thing changes.  that is my take but I bet that there is a college class somewhere studing it and others like it.
If you like Memento you should see Pi.
Oh as for expensive DVDs there are many sites on the web where you can download movies and burn them on a disk.  or many sites sale movies for super cheat .
I haven't seen Eureka "yet"  but have you seen one called Battle Royal or Gozu?  hope this helps,  hope all is well in your neck of the woods.  later Herschel
