Answer
Hi, Lance...

First off, the best Dracula outside of Bela Lugosi was, indeed, Christopher Lee. I am truly excited to see his career in such an upswing now. Frank Langella, on the other hand, was ridiculous... tell your friend that ol' Frank was hired strictly for looks, not vampiric quality... I do like the trick Frank did with his eyes in that film though... if you haven't noticed, go back and watch it again. Look for a close-up on him, and watch his eyes shift back and forth quickly... they almsot vibrate... quite amazing...

Now, about your other question... I'm striking out here on that... I thought at first you might have confused things with an old Vincent Price film called "The Conquerer Worm," or a Herbert Lom film called "Witchfinder General." No dice. However, I am told by a source of mine that what you are describing sounds vary familiar to him... and that it was part of one of the many "multi-story" films that Hammer did. Sort of like "Creepshow" did, there were several films that had about five short stories in them. So don't give up yet, we might still strike gold for you...

By the way, Peter Cushing was and always will be the best Van Helsing, not to mention Dr. Frankenstein...

Send me a follow-up if you remember anything else about the film you are thinking about...

OH! You did know that "The Wicker Man" is finally on DVD, right???

Thanks,

PCG

I am a devout fan of horror films, from the Universal classics to the schlock of the 50`s, on through the 70`s to the splatter era, and straight up to "28 Days Later." Tom Savini films are an extra treat. Ask me about "Knightriders" if you don`t believe me. Anyone else own a copy of that classic?
