I saw a movie back in the 80's when i was a young kid.  I believe it was on USA's Up All Night.  I dont remember the title, the stars or anything except some plot points.  It was about some kind of alien terrorizing a town, it would throw spider like disks at people that would stick to them and suck their blood.  Thats about all i remember.....Hope its enough to go on.

Hi, Mike...

This sounds amazingly familiar, but I need to ask a couple of questions to narrow things down. One, do you remember the "bad guy" in this thing? Did he have shoulder-length white hair?

Secondly, do you have any vague memory about who the star was? A tall guy with a crew cut, by any chance?

Man, don't you miss "USA's Up All Night"? Mmmmmmm... that Rhonda Shear.... help me, Rhonda....

Thanks,

PCG

Sorry i dont know any of the stars, I couldnt have been more than 8 when i saw it.  I do remember one specific scene.  A spider like disk lands on the male leads arm and he takes a knife and cuts the disk off, I believe this happened towards the end.  Don't put this into stone but i believe they blew the "bad guy" up at the end also.  And yes i do miss Up all Night and that Rhonda.....grrrr, I'll take her over Gilbert any day!

Hi again, Mike....

Well, I think I have this thing narrowed down... I originally thought we were talking about "I Come In Peace," starring Dolph Lundgren. But things weren't meshing.

So, I did some memory-searching, and some researching, and I think I have it narrowed down to two titles. One is "Contamination," and the other is "Without Warning." Personally, I'm leaning heavily toward "Without Warning." Check them out and see if these hit home.

Problem is, I keep flashing on "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai," because the aliens used those evil spider-things that they spit at people, but I'm pretty sure that's not what you're looking for..

Let me know if either of these strike a winner...

Thanks for the patience,

PCG

PCG,
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.  I guess i can try to clear some things up.  It's definetly not Buckaroo Banzai, though I may be in the minority who likes that movie.  I checked out the other two and the only Without Warning I found on the net was the 1994 one about an asteroid.  Not sure if thats the one you meant too, but i know thats not it.  Contamination doesn't sound to familiar either.  I've been racking my brain to try and come up with more details.  I know that my friend and i used to call the "bad guy" "egg head" because he or it had a pretty elongated head.  I'm pretty sure they blew up the bad guy at the end, something keeps nagging at me that it was in an outhouse or a small shed when they blew it up.  I'll keep checking around and trying to remember more details.  Thanks

Hi, Mike...

The "Without Warning" I'm talking about was filmed in 1980, and it starred Jack Palance and Martin Landau. It's certifiably bad enough to have popped up on "Up All Night," too... ugh....

I am one of the biggest "Buckaroo" fans ever, man. It's like "Rocky Horror" to me... I can say everything, make the movements, you name it... "Yeah, yeah, we all need see Buckaroo....." LOLOL

Look forward to hearing from you with more details....

PCG,
Well what can i say?  Without Warning was the title!  I already have it on Pre-order, should be here in about two weeks.  I can't thank you enough.  There is a very good reason you work at all experts!  Again thank you very much and I'll definetly know where to turn when i have another question.  By the way if you ever start a petition to bring back Up all Night, let me be the first to sign!!!

Mike,

I am thrilled that I helped you with "Without Warning." Believe it or not, that was one of the first movies I ever saw on HBO. When we first got HBO, it was not a 24 hour service; it went off about 3:30 AM... it was a badge of honor to stay up on Friday and Saturday nights and catch whatever god-awful film they would crank out for the after midnight programming... I remember "Without Warning" and "Humanoids From the Deep" being BIG players on the after 1 AM circuit...

Need my "services" again, feel free to ask me....

Enjoy,

PCG

I am a devout fan of horror films, from the Universal classics to the schlock of the 50`s, on through the 70`s to the splatter era, and straight up to "28 Days Later." Tom Savini films are an extra treat. Ask me about "Knightriders" if you don`t believe me. Anyone else own a copy of that classic?
