Question
Would you be able to give a detailed beat by story beat explanation as to what exactly happened in the film Mulholland Drive?  I have heard several opinions from, "It was all a dream" (But all movies are dreams, if you think about it) to "There was a parallel dimensional shift" (which I find too broad and much too pat) to "Well, they shouldn't have dropped the ABC miniseries this was supposed to be".  (Yes, but let's look at the film in context, not wonder about what could have been.)

If it helps, I can ask these specific questions:
-Jitterbugging is the first image we see and it is referred to very late in the film by Betty.  Is there supposed to be a connection here?
-Who was Rita before she acquired amnesia?
-How did the room mix-up in the middle of the film occur? (After all, it happens BEFORE the universe flipflops and Betty and Rita switch identities.)

Obviously there are many highfalutin subtexts one can pull out here and there; I'm more interested in cause and effect.  I'm just curious about what you think happened.

Answer
Man o man I can't tell you how many times I have gotten into a conversation over a David Lynch film that has become heated.  The only thing I can tell you about any of his films is that everyone has a their own take, and even if David himself trys to explain something it always is more crazy than what it is he is trying to explain. So sorry I can not tell you what the film is about All I know is that he rocks and the fact that one has to think about what he creates rocks even harder  sorry Herschel
