About 7devonapes
Expertise
I will attempt to answer any questions in regard to weird, offbeat, twisted horror/cult/drama films. I also have a fairly broad knowledge of drama and comedy, particularly British films.

Experience
I am a avid horror movie fan who grew watching Evil Dead, Re-Animator, Dawn Of The Dead, Return Of The Living Dead, Demons, Xtro, Night Of The Demons...etc. I have various Charles S. Balun books and other assorted horror guides for reference if needed. As well as horror/cult films, I watch a lot of drama - particularly British films.

Subject: Obsure horror movie about a murder video game

Question
I saw a movie where a teen got a video game in which he played a murderer, yet part of the game was to fool him into thinking that the game was over and convince him he was a murderer in real life.  I would like to watch it again, but cannot for the life of me remember the title of this movie.  Thanks in advance for your help!

Answer
Hi Roger,

The movie you are looking for is called "Brainscan" which was made in 1994 and starred Edward Furlong. A plot summary from imdb.com follows:

"A lonely teenage horror-movie fan discovers a mysterious computer game that uses hypnosis to custom-tailor the game into the most terrifying experience imaginable. When he emerges from the hypnotic trance he is horrified to find evidence that the brutal murder depicted in the game actually happened -- and he's the killer."

Here is the film's trailer:

The DVD is available from Amazon.com, Video Universe, and eBay at various prices.

Best of luck,
Ryan
