I remember this movie aired as a TV special sometime between 1981 & 1983. It features a large scary mansion with a dark secret (of course). A scene I remember is a woman sleeping over as a guest explores the house a night and is frightened by a scary pale old woman who runs away holding her ears and groaning as the young guest screams. In the next scene, the guest confronts the owner of the house with the incident and he's suprised but mentions that it some old woman thought to have disappeared. Any clues as to what this movie is?

I don't have a clue what this tv special is. I was thinkin perhaps it may be "Burnt Offerings"(1976) or "The Watcher in the Woods" (1980), though I doubt it's either of those. The information you supplied is simply too vague. If you can think of any more details that may be useful, let me know and I will keep looking for this title.
