Question

Hello once again from Japan and thanks for the advice
and help you sent out my way over the past few months.
And Best Wishes for a prosperous, popcorn-filled 2007!
I almost sent you a question about the title of a film
I saw some years back concerning mutant bears in Maine.
But then, while grilling salmon, the title came to me.
"The Prophecy", along with films like "Friday The 13th"
and "My Bloody Valentine", has such a great atmosphere.
By chance did Savini create the SFX for "The Prophecy"?
For some reason the SFX in all three films I mentioned
have similar-looking bodies creatively becoming corpses.
A young camper in a yellow sleeping bag is sent flying
in opposite directions by a bear in one grizzly scene,
but to know Savini had a hand in it would sweeten it.
I have looked on sites but have yet to find his name
connected to this stunning little ecological creeper.
Thanks for the help and here's to a wonderful 2007!

Cordially,

David

Answer
Hi, David...

Finally confirmed what I tought was true... Savini did NOT work on Prophecy. I was mostly sure, but I had to confirm that his company did not do anything on the film... I agree with you, though, the work is very similar...

Hope this helps,

PCG

Expertise

I am a devout fan of horror films, from the Universal classics to the schlock of the 50`s, on through the 70`s to the splatter era, and straight up to "28 Days Later." Tom Savini films are an extra treat. Ask me about "Knightriders" if you don`t believe me. Anyone else own a copy of that classic?

Just a lifetime subscription to "Famous Monsters of Filmland," and another to "Fangoria."
