Cult Movies/Re: Question About Savini Creature TV Episode

Question
I figured it out.  It was called "In The Closet" from Tales from the
Darkside.  Savini directed the episode and created the monster.
Someone posted the episode on YouTube.  Amazing!

Original Posting:
In the mid to late 80's I remember seeing a TV show that scared
me a lot and I can't for the life of me remember the series or the
name of the episode.

Here's what I remember.  It concerned a woman that moved into
a house (came to stay with a relative maybe?) and she was sent
to live upstairs.  At night, she thought a creature was watching
her.  I think it lived in a door in the wall to the attic.  I remember
the creature was small, white, had red eyes and claws.  There's a
scene where the woman goes to bed and as she swings her feet
up, you see a horrible white claw slash by from under the bed
that just misses her.

I want to say I also remember the creature being someone's
daughter (the relative she’s staying with?).  I also think maybe
that the woman is so scared she falls down a flight of stairs at
the end of the episode.  I’m fairly certain the creature was
designed by either Rick Baker or Tom Savini.

This has been driving me nuts.  I remember this being part of
some series like Tales from the Crypt or Amazing Stories but I
don't think it's either.  I'm 35 years old and I saw this when I was
a teenager so it would have been sometime in 84-89 probably.

Answer
Hi, Chris...

Glad you found the answer... can't believe I didn't think to look for Savini as a director when I was going through his credits... I was looking strictly at his SFX credits for television...

I owe you one, because I missed this one completely...

I am a devout fan of horror films, from the Universal classics to the schlock of the 50`s, on through the 70`s to the splatter era, and straight up to "28 Days Later." Tom Savini films are an extra treat. Ask me about "Knightriders" if you don`t believe me. Anyone else own a copy of that classic?
