Question
Dear PCG,

Hello again from Japan and thanks for the info
concerning "Knightriders." I saw it back in '81
and remember the flashing motorcycles and Tom
smiling while sporting a silver-studded jock.
If I can find it here I will definitely ride
that wild bit of movie nirto one more time.
And, while I am at it, I have a friend here
whose neice is 10 and in love with zombies!
I think this is healthy because she craves
the extreme and knows it is just pretend.
We watched Tom's "Night Of The Living Dead"
remake and it fun to guess how the effects
were created and we never jumped so much!
Has he directed any other films to date?
Thanks again for keeping me connected!

Cordially,

David

Answer
Hi, David...

Glad to know the zombie love is across the globe! Have you read either of Max Brooks' books? "The Zombie Survival Guide" is great - it's like a handbook on how to survive should a zombie outbreak occur... the second, "World War Z" reads like a non-fiction book, recounting the war and aftermath of a global outbreak of zombies... the audiobook of WWZ is amazing... all different world-class actors, recounting the stories of zombies in their lives, and how the coped... good stuff!

As for Savini, he jsut started pre-production on his next direcorial effort, called "The Forest." Interestingly enough this horror movie will co-star two men who have played Leatherface in the "Chainsaw" movies, Gunnar Hanson (the original TCM) and Andrew Brynarski (the TCM remake).

His main focus here lately seems to be acting. He's working with Tarantino and Rodriguez on "Grindhouse," he's in "Sea of Dust," which just finished shooting last month.

You've read his book, "Grande Illusion", haven't you? great stuff...

Hoe to talk to you soon!

I am a devout fan of horror films, from the Universal classics to the schlock of the 50`s, on through the 70`s to the splatter era, and straight up to "28 Days Later." Tom Savini films are an extra treat. Ask me about "Knightriders" if you don`t believe me. Anyone else own a copy of that classic?
