I seen this on tv when I was about 12 years old and it's the only film that has really scared the living daylights out of me! It starts off with a boat being stranded in the middle of the bermuda triangle and a rescue helicopter going in to assist the boat. When the helicopter reaches the boat they find a girl( Kim Novak) cowering in fear inside the boat. As one of the rescue team( Doug McClure) attempts to take the girl up to the helicopter the rope snaps and the weather forces the helicopter to return for more help leaving the girl and Doug McClure behind. It's from here on the girl tells her version of how her crew had been hunting a sword fish and ended up in the triangle. Whilst in the triangle they picked up a stranded priest ( Alejandro Rey). She believed this to be a bad omen which infuriated the devil causing the unexplained deaths of her fellow crew members. But after the girl's version Doug McClure explains how he doesn't believe in the devil and starts about investigating the boat and giving an explanation on how the crew died eventually calming the girl then charming her into bed! It then gets interesting when the rescue ship comes in to tow the boat away and examine what bodies are on the boat. This is where the ending takes a massive twist and gives an unexpected ending which'll send a shiver down your spine. It's a good film well worth watching just for the end sequence alone!
Let me know if you find the movie......I would love a copy.

Found it! After a bit more searching. The name of the movie was Satan's Triangle. It starred Doug McClure and Kim Novak and was made in 1975. Generally reviewed as one of the best creepy movies made for TV with a genuinely scary ending. I couldn't find it for sale anywhere but did read that it can occasionally be found on e-bay. Good luck.

I caught this years ago, probably in the 70's, on late night TV. It starred Doug McClure, and one of the characters was a priest. I too have not been able to find anything about it anywhere since.

Just found it! It was called Satan's Triangle and was apparently made for TV in 1975. It starred Doug McClure and Kim Novak. Actually well acted and very compelling at the time. It spooked me when I happened across it way back when, and I never forgot it.

I remember the movie. That's why I Googled it. It was a Made for TV movie from the early 70s, around '74 I think.
It was really creepy, but then again I was 7 years old at the time, and the show "Emergency" was scary then.

I spent the last hour looking for "Devil's Triangle", and am so glad I found this page. I thought it might be "Beyond the Bermuda Triangle", but that wasn't it.
I'm so glad. Is there any way to get a copy of it? I was around 7 at the time and it scared the begeezas out of me!

I hope I can add to the information...This was a tv movie which took place in the devils triangle. It involved a group of people on a boat who pick up a woman found floating in the water. The woman, who is actually Satan in female form, then proceeds to kill or cause the deaths of everyone on board in order to take their souls. (One guy is impaled by a caught swordfish hanging on ropes below deck.) Through trickery, magic, and preying on mans' weaknesses, Satan succeeds in getting everyone. The movie ends with Satan being the only one rescued by a helicopter. He causes the helicopter to begin crashing down and as it descends, tries to make the pilot give him his soul in order to survive--the pilot refuses and dies--but his soul is intact and heaven bound. The last scene shows Satan in *male* form floating in the water, awaiting rescue from an approaching cruise ship, a supremely triumphant albeit *evil* grin on his face from the prospect of getting more souls.

Just one more tidbit to add... I too remember this movie from years ago as a kid. What I remember is the scene near the end in which the Priest (Alejandro Rey - remember "The Flying Nun"!) tries to capture the Helicopter Pilot's soul and call to him "...Pagdolini!" I tried to find the movie by searching the name "Pagdolini" and found nothing. I searched for "Alejandro Rey, Devil's Triangle" and found you guys. Thanks for the info. Couldn't find the movie on E-Bay still.

I also remember in this movie that there were scuba divers that found an Egyptian Sarcaghogus; presumably of a young boy, which they retrieved and brought abroad the boat. That was when all the murders began. Oddly, I was about 9 years old and I remember a female disrobing herself to the boy mummy and then ti the priest, I think. Ultimately, the ship went on fire and all but one survived.

I am also serching for this movie and at one time, found it. I believe that the name of the movie is actually "The Devil's Triangle". I'll give you more on the movie. The movie begins with the Coast guard landing on what appears to be an empty boat. Once on board(via helicopter), The Guard finds a lone female survivor. With a storm hitting hard, the chopper is forced to leave the Man and the female survivor for the night. This is when the story really begins as she begins to tell him what happened to the rest of the crew. She says that the boat came upon a wrecked plane in the ocean. They find a "Preacher" floating on a wing from the plane. The story continues as one by one, people begin dying from random accidents. The helicopter returns the next day and rescues the two from the boat. Once you think all is well, the male character turns to the female survivor only to find the "Preacher"(Freaked me out as a kid). The copter crashes into the ocean. Next, you see a huge ship or carrier approaching as the lead actor pops up from the depths(with an evil smile).

yeah, saw the film once when i was a kid, i remember that ending, i also remember the start of the film when the same guy is found adrift on some flotsom, he is taken aboard the yacht and "rescued" and thats when all the wierd stuff and grizzly deaths start, i remember a guy in a cabin of the boat been found hovering horizontaly and dead, later in the film you find out he has been scewered by a marlins snout thats come through the side of the hull, i definatley remember it being called "the devils triangle" but with some of that era films, the name is often changed or differnt tittles in diferent countries, (usualy involving spanish or italian directors, an example being "killer fish" also called "treasure of the piranha" and am sure a couple of other names)

the film to which you probably refer was made in 1974 for TV, and had a seasoned cast including doug mcClure, kim novak and john huston no less.
its a bit low budget but doesnt show it for director makes good use of his influences-
i can spot 'nosferatu', 'the omen', 'moby dick',
'knife in the water' [polanski but not horror actually] and 'night of the living dead'.
hard to find but available on youtube in a fairly good condition.

I've been trying to find this one myself. The survivor was actually the Devil. He took the form of a girl who died and was hanging from the mast with a sail over her so you could not see who it was. The Devil, pretending to be the girl, explained how all the people died. When the helicopter took off, taking the "girl" to safety, they reached the body haging on the mast and found out it was the girl. Then the girk in the copter turned into the Devil, who was actually the guy she said was hanging from the mast, and made the helicopter crash. I remember it really creeping me out and now I want to see it again, but have no idea where to find it.

Hi all. Enjoyed your discussions on The Devil's Triangle. After reading them I also remember watching this as a kid. However maybe you can ans my question regarding another film based on a similar phenomanon I also watched as a kid. I think the movie was made in the 80's. All I can remember about the film is that a Coast Guard ship gets enveloped in a sea fog and ends up back in the 1940's picking up some stranded Americans. The Japanese are about to launch their attack on Pearl harbour as the Modern US ship armed with fighter jets prepare to engage them. However the fog reappears and the jets call off the attack. I believe one survivor does go back with the ship's crew and is reunited with the WW2 surviver's
Anybody remember this one?
