Question
I've been looking for the name to a 70's (I think) horror movie about a woman who is dragged underneath her stairs by little evil things that look burnt or shriveled. Her husband doesn't believe her and she is tied up by these monsters when she is all alone in her house. She is able to grab a camera from a nearby table and snap a few shots before she is dragged away. Anyway, this movie terrified me as a child and I'd like to see it again, but nobody seems to remember the name. I hope you know what I'm talking about.
Also, I've been looking to buy another 70's movie about a Catholic couple and their parents who move into a new home after loosing everything (in a flood I think). The new home is possesed by a demon and a few ghost's. The family is attacked several times while the Catholic Church refuses to aid them (exorcism). I think the name is Haunted, but when I look for it I come up with the more recent movie, The Haunted. Please help. Thank You,
Virginia

Answer
Hi, Virginia...

The first film is one I get asked about a lot... it's called Don't Be Afraid of the Dark. It was a TV movie that has been voted one of the best TV movies ever made several times... it must have turned the world on it's ear in 1971 when it was made because I get at least two questions a week about it. You can get copies pretty easily on Ebay or Amazon. It starred Kim Darby and Jim Hutton.

Still working on the second one, but I wanted to let you know the first one, so you wouldn't have to wait longer... I highly recommend getting a copy of this one, though, because even today, it's a nice scare...

Let you know about the second one ASAP...

I am a devout fan of horror films, from the Universal classics to the schlock of the 50`s, on through the 70`s to the splatter era, and straight up to "28 Days Later." Tom Savini films are an extra treat. Ask me about "Knightriders" if you don`t believe me. Anyone else own a copy of that classic?
