DHTML - Word in browser

Expert: Jim Stiles - 11/9/2006

Question
Hi,
I read your answer on how to open a Word document in the browser using iframe.  I tested and it worked great.

I have a couple of questions and I need your advise please.
What I want to do is to open the Word doc automatically in the browser without bringing the Open/Save modal window.  how can I just open as soon as the page loads?

Then, I want to be able to highlight key words within the document.  for example, if I search the site for "Hello World", then when the document opens up, I want to be able to highlight any instances of the word "Hello" and "World".

can you help me please?

thanks

Answer
The open/save dialalogue box is a security feature of Word. The only way to disable it is from the security features on your computer. However, that would only apply to your computer. You can not disable that feature through your browser.

In order to highlight text in multiple documents, you will need to use a server-side MySql database to search the documents and perform the highlighting.

Jim.
