AboutDuke Ha Expertise I have extensive knowledge of the 1990's-Present Dallas Cowboys teams. Specifically, team uniforms, equipment, and so forth. I own numerous Cowboys memorabilia and would love to one day write a book on the evolution of the team's uniforms dating back to their inception in 1960. I may not be able to answer most Cowboys questions prior to the 1990's as I was but a youth at the time :-).
Experience I try to make annual trips to see the Cowboys in Texas every season. I have a library of various Dallas Cowboy books, football cards, player photos, DVD's and VHS tapes. I have recorded nearly all games from 1998-2007. I am also an artist, so most of my collections such as cards, photos, or memorabilia are not for value, but rather for reference. I appreciate the visual asthetics of the Dallas Cowboys and the game of football. As a hobby, I occasionally customize and paint McFarlane Dallas Cowboy figures to near exact detail as their live counterparts. I also own several game used items, autographs, and roughly 10-12 authentic jerseys with 3 different manufacturers.
Education/Credentials Associates of Arts in Liberal Arts, Associates of Arts in Graphic Design, Bachelor of Arts in Studio Arts with emphasis in Illustration. My dream would be, of course, to work for the Dallas Cowboys organization possibly for their marketing and design team. The Dallas Cowboys annual bluebooks and game programs have always interested me.
Question In 1996 I attended a fund raising conference in Texas and won a football signed by the Dallas Cowbays winning superbowl team. I'm wondering what it might be worth today. Thanks for your answer.
Answer Hi Beverly,
Sorry for the delayed response as I'm sure you understand the holidays have kept everyone spinning. Congratulations on the signed football. I am assuming the football you have in your possession is from the 1995 Superbowl season, but if it was from previous years, I don't think it would make that much of a difference. If it was in fact from the 1995 season and signed by the entire team, then you got yourself quite a valuable piece of memorabilia.
Just 4 of those names could get you high priced dollars alone as they are all or future Hall of Famers Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin, and Deion Sanders. Add other popular fan favorites as well as Pro Bowlers like Darren Woodson, Jay Novacek, Daryl "Moose" Johnston, Nate Newton, Charles Haley and you can fetch good money for the football should you ever decide to sell it.
Now the tricky part and I will tell you what I tell everyone that asks the "worth" or "value" of some sort of memorabilia, it really is only worth how much you are willing to part with it or how much someone buys it from you. There really never is a "set" value on memorabilia and there is no book that lists these things that I know of. Case in point, I use to collect comic books and some had a list price of say $30-40.00. But depending on the condition of the book, the demand for it, or if I even find a buyer willing to give me that kind of money, the value is rather immeasurable.
My advice and what I would do personally is scan the Dallas Cowboys website or Ebay and sort of figure out how much each individual players autograph is worth. I know its a daunting task, but if you concentrate on the popular star players, it should be a little easier and give you a rough ballpark price. Add all that up to the cost of a NFL regulated football and you'll have a rough estimate.
