About Fred Goodwin
Expertise
My particular expertise is Cowboys history from 1960-1988 (the Landry era); I'm also a Cowboys book fanatic (I have almost 200 different Cowboys-related titles), and I also collect Cowboys football cards (but stopped in 93). But I am not an expert in the value of cards or collectibles – so please don't ask.

Before you ask: "So-and-so" almost certainly DID NOT PLAY for the Cowboys -- trust me! Before you ask me, ask the guy for proof!

Finally, I DO NOT ANSWER “PRIVATE” QUESTIONS! My work requires research, so the results must be made public.

Experience
I had a Cowboys webpage recognized around the Internet as the authoritative list of Cowboys links, and I have a Cowboys book collection second to none (200 titles). In addition to my book collection, I have every Cowboys media guide back to 1960, which makes researching questions much easier.

Dallas Cowboys - Jerseys

Question
I have been a Cowboy fan since day one in 1960.  I was very young but remember some of the history.  First of all, if Jerry wants to use throwbacks I prefer, but of course it's just me, that we use the white jersey throwback when at home.  We are the only team that exclusively wear white at home, throwback or otherwise, except for the past few years where we wear the similated blue throwbacks.  We should wear white and if worn out of town maybe it the royal blue if the opponent wants us in dark jerseys.  Also, in those days names were not worn and it would be nice to not wear them when wearing throwbacks but it may be a league rule for all I know.  One more thing, where can I get an original looking white double star 1960's Don Merideth and Eddie LeBaron jersey as well as other throwbacks?  Thanks and hope you can get me some answers and help me with my search for the throwback.  Thanks.

Answer
Ricky:

Originally, the Cowboys wore the blue double-star jersey as their home uniform from 1960-63.  It wasn't until they redesigned their uniform in 1964 to the current silver & white that they began wearing white at home.  That's probably why they wear the blue at home whenever they donn their throwback jerseys.

As to where you might find an original double star jersey, I'm not really the best person to answer that question, as collectibles are not my area of expertise.  I suggest you ask my fellow Cowboys expert, Duke Ha.  But I can tell you that I owned an original throwback jersey (white version) that I bought in the early 80s from Brad Sham's Big League Threads on Walnut Hill in Dallas (store no longer exists).

I don't remember the number, but as you said, it had no name on the back so I can't identify who it belonged to, but I lost it during one of my many moves over the last 30 years.  I've never seen another one, even on eBay, but that's where I'd start looking if I were you.

Good luck and thanx for writing.
