About Fred Goodwin
Expertise
My particular expertise is Cowboys history from 1960-1988 (the Landry era); I'm also a Cowboys book fanatic (I have almost 200 different Cowboys-related titles), and I also collect Cowboys football cards (but stopped in 93). But I am not an expert in the value of cards or collectibles – so please don't ask.

Before you ask: "So-and-so" almost certainly DID NOT PLAY for the Cowboys -- trust me! Before you ask me, ask the guy for proof!

Finally, I DO NOT ANSWER “PRIVATE” QUESTIONS! My work requires research, so the results must be made public.

Experience
I had a Cowboys webpage recognized around the Internet as the authoritative list of Cowboys links, and I have a Cowboys book collection second to none (200 titles). In addition to my book collection, I have every Cowboys media guide back to 1960, which makes researching questions much easier.

Question
Fred,

I have been searching for years for a Dallas Cowboys Blue jersey from the late 1960's to the early 1970's. Like the one they wore in Super Bowl V. I have the pants from that era but need the jersey to compliment the outfit. It doesn't have to be a big named player that I'm lookng for, any player will do. Do you know where I might be able to obtain one?

Thank you for your help in advance.

Michael Tulli

Answer
Michael:

I'm really not an expert in collectibles, so all I can suggest is that you keep an eye on Ebay.

At one time, there was a sporting goods store in Dallas called "Brad Sham's Big League Threads" owned by Dallas Cowboys broadcaster Brad Sham.

I recall seeing in the store back in the early 80s a vintage copy of the original 1960-1963 white road jersey with the blue stars on the shoulders.

That store is long gone and I don't know of any local sources for such uniforms, including the 60s-70s era blue road jersey you refer to.

You could post a request on USENET (be sure to use a throwaway email address) or talk to a sports collectibles dealer in your area.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help -- good luck.

Fred G.
