About Fred Goodwin
Expertise
My particular expertise is Cowboys history from 1960-1988 (the Landry era); I'm also a Cowboys book fanatic (I have almost 200 different Cowboys-related titles), and I also collect Cowboys football cards (but stopped in 93). But I am not an expert in the value of cards or collectibles – so please don't ask.

Before you ask: "So-and-so" almost certainly DID NOT PLAY for the Cowboys -- trust me! Before you ask me, ask the guy for proof!

Finally, I DO NOT ANSWER “PRIVATE” QUESTIONS! My work requires research, so the results must be made public.

Experience
I had a Cowboys webpage recognized around the Internet as the authoritative list of Cowboys links, and I have a Cowboys book collection second to none (200 titles). In addition to my book collection, I have every Cowboys media guide back to 1960, which makes researching questions much easier.

Subject: Players and years they played

Question
In what years did Randy White, John Dutton, Ed Jones, Bob Lilly, Larry Allen, Jethro Pugh and George Andre, or any of them, play together? I think a couple are listed on the Doomsday Defense I and other on Doomsday Defense II

Answer
Tom:

Larry Allen is an offensive lineman and never played defense.  He joined the team in '94 and was never on the same team with any of the other, defensive players you mention.

Randy White joined the team in '75; he never played with Bob Lilly, who retired after the '74 season.  Here are the players and the years they played with the Cowboys:

Bob Lilly: 1961-74
George Andrie: 1962-72
Jethro Pugh: 1965-78

Ed Jones: 1974-78; 80-89
Randy White: 1975-88
John Dutton: 1979-86

Larry Allen: 1994-05

The first three guys were part of the original "Doomsday" Defense.  The second three were part of Doomsday II.  Another Doomsday II player was DE Harvey Martin: 1973-83.

One guy you didn't mention actually spanned both groups: Larry Cole, who played from 1968-80.

I hope this answers your question.
