About Duke Ha
Expertise
I have extensive knowledge of the 1990's-Present Dallas Cowboys teams. Specifically, team uniforms, equipment, and so forth. I own numerous Cowboys memorabilia and would love to one day write a book on the evolution of the team's uniforms dating back to their inception in 1960. I may not be able to answer most Cowboys questions prior to the 1990's as I was but a youth at the time :-).

Experience
I make annual trips to see the Cowboys at Texas Stadium. I have a library of Cowboys books, dvd's and VHS tapes. I have recorded nearly all games dating back since the 1998 season. I am an artist, so most of my collections such as cards and photos are not for value, but rather for reference. I appreciate the asthetics of the Cowboys and the game of football. As a hobby, I customize and paint McFarlane Dallas Cowboy figures to near exact detail as their live counterparts. I own several game used items, autographs, and roughly 10-12 authentic jerseys with 3 different manufacturers.

Publications
I have no known publications. However, as of October 16, 2006, my written work and art has mostly been seen on the Wikipedia topic the Dallas Cowboys- uniforms/logos.

Education/Credentials
Associates of Arts in Liberal Arts, Associates of Arts in Graphic Design, Bachelor of Arts in Studio Arts with emphasis in Illustration. My dream would be, of course, to work for the Dallas Cowboys organization possibly for their marketing and design team. The Dallas Cowboys annual bluebooks and game programs have always interested me.

Question
QUESTION: i just bought a Emmit Smith jersey. How can i tell if it's fake? do they still make them?

ANSWER: Hey Jesse, nice choice in jerseys I must say.  Well, first off I am assuming you bought an authentic Emmitt jersey since you probably wouldn't care if a replica jersey was a fake or not right?  Ok, having said that, in my opinion, half of the jerseys selling on Ebay claiming to be game used or the "real deal"  are usually all fakes.  It's really hard to tell from just photos and a seller can just send you something different then what was shown in the auction.  I wish I could go into extreme detail, but it's hard without a visual reference.  So here are some things to look for that I have learned in my experience with jerseys and from my personal collection.

- authentic jerseys usually have a matte finish to the tackle twill/stitched numbers.  I have noticed fakes have a shiny sheen to them.
- A lot of things are embroidered instead of using heavy duty tackle twill stitching.
-numbers, name fonts, and logos are usually inaccurate.

Like anything in life, such as counterfeit bills, fakes can be hard to spot unless you know what you're looking for.  The best advice I can give you is examine very closely an actual picture of Emmitt Smith wearing the style of jersey you have and compare.  You can also go to the Dallas Cowboys website and examine all of the game used jerseys and see for yourself.  Since Emmitt is no longer playing, I do not believe they make his jersey anymore...atleast main stream like they use to.  The Cowboys website still offers it for sale and people can ALWAYS customize one personally.  If you're still unsure and just totally frustrated, then send me a photo and I'd be happy to help as best as I can.  Good luck and thanks for asking.

Answer
Hey Jesse, good to hear from you again and thanks for the link.  The jersey pictured looks to be authentic, as a matter of fact my Emmitt jersey looks exactly like that one shown.  Having said that, I noticed the seller used the exact same Emmitt jersey for all of his/her auctions (an Emmitt #22 size 48).  This could've been easier for him/her instead of taking a picture of each individual jersey, but you gotta raise an eyebrow to someone selling an authentic in bulk, for such a low price, and with no pic taken of the actual jersey being sold.  Still, some of his negative feedback was more along the lines of shipping, rather than a customer being swindled.  So bottom line, if the jersey in the auction pictured is the exact one you'll be getting, then it looks to be an authentic.  Use your gut instinct and I hope this helped some.  good luck

Duke
