Expert: MartinStJohn Date: 3/22/2008 Subject: Who made this song
Question Back in the mid 80's there was a dance song, sung by a female. I remember hearing it in a R&B club. The key sounds in the song had theme samples from GREEN ACRES, THE ADDAMS FAMILY, and the OREOOOO, OREOOO song, sung by the witch's guards in the WIZARD OF OZ. You could also hear Lurch from the ADDAMS FAMILY saying "YOU RANG" in the song. I think the song was called Goodbye.
Answer Coldcut had songs that were very much like this one. Was (Not Was) "spy in the house of love" sampled the Oreooo part too. Also the ultra-rare Yazoo-situation (re-situated megamix) had parts of the addams family, as well as bits of Cherry Baby, Don't you want me baby, doctor doctor, Dragnet, pink panther, etc. Blast Zone had "mary had a little jam" that had lots of samples from various tv themes, and shows. But by the description you giving, the song most resembles "doctorin' the house" by Coldcut/yazz and the plastic population, mainly because of the female vocal.
