Question
i have a wide variety of tastes in music. here is a list of some of my favorites.
crysal method
bt
seal
planet funk
chemical brothers
massive attack
hoverphonic
delerium
generally speaking i like music that is not to fast and not to slow. the more going on during the song the better. music with highs and lows are nice to. i was hoping you could give me some names to check out that have similar styles to each of the groups i listed above. i am willing to check out anything. hopefully you have suggestions that are still making music so i would have something to listen to in the future. thanks

Answer
Kevin, there are just heaps of bands that fit into  your favorites list..i love a lot of those bands myself. I am unfamiliar with Planet Funk however..that's the only one i hadn't heard of so far. I have 2 songs of Hooverphonic's, but have at least one album by every other band you listed. I'm not sure if the bands i'm gonna list are still making music, but hopefully some are.

Leftfield, Front LIne Assembly (former project of the frontmen of Delerium,..im pretty sure these guys are still doing some projects as Front Line Assembly, not sure tho), Bel Canto (haven't heard about a new album by them in forever, could be a little slow for your tastes, unsure), DJ Shadow, Dust Brothers, Manufacture ( i recommend this because they have a song featuring Sarah Mclachlan and because Delerium also have songs featuring her too), Enigma (they probably won't do another album), One Dove (they came and went on FFRR label in the 90s but fit your style very very well), Portishead (haven't heard from them in ages, if they did come out with something, it was re-leased to little or no fanfare and i missed it), Ivy, Statik Sound System.

I'm really not sure tho. I can't gauge your tastes completely. There are some i would recommend but then they may or may not fit into what you listen to at all. They may have came out much too early on for you to be into. Delerium has ties to a music scene that reaches back to the late 80s. and i go back that far, i don't know if you do also. If i list that period, i could go on to infinity about bands similar to Manufacture which could tie into other genres eventually including goth rock, industrial, post industrial, gothic dance, new wave, experimental, etc That would take page after page to list.
Additionally, it wouldn't be helping you gain new music leads but would send you reeling on an artifact expedition..grin

I go cd/record shopping almost three times a week, but seem to find little that fits my tastes beyond catalog titles.

IT was a big help in the late 80s and 90s to have at least a smidgeon of the music i like crossing over to the mainstream at least moderately and the indie labels influencing the mainstream.
Nowadays, the major charts don't let anything i like crossover and since the stupid majors have quit doing anything good, it's giving the indies an excuse to not release much of anything either. It's a sad state of affairs when i myself look back to my own catalog titles or perhaps searching for older catalog titles when i go out or download. Here lately there is not much that's really grabbing me and shaking me. I don't have the time i once had either so that's changed a lot of things as to how i view music now compared to last decade or the one before. So really, all in all, i can't be trusted to suggest new music, because i am now what 20 somethings call an older fart at 40. But i don't think age is the total reason for this, it's partly because music is suffering in general in 2008.
