Question
Hi,  please could you tell me the correct way to line up the dart before throwing.  I have tried holding the dart directly in front of both my eyes and also tried aiming using just one eye, but I am unsure if holding the dart directly in front of my eyeline is correct as it does effect my focus on the board.
Thanks for any help.

Answer
A difficult question to answer as everyone is different. If you ever see Bobby George throw you will see what I mean, he has a side ways toss that doesn't appear to be aimed at all!!.

What I do is keep both eyes open to get 3D depth, I then hold the dart at at arms length and focus on the point placing it at a certain point on the board. To hit T20 I have found my point tip needs to be positioned mid way between the T20 and D20 - but that's just me....your positioning will come with trial and error.

Most professional players hold the dart at eyeline and in front of the face, which tells us something!!

I have found 'looking through' the point  helps in this respect as constantly focussing and refocussing would be a recipe for a headache!.

When holding the darts I hold it at a 45 degree  angle midway between the figures 20 and 1 on the outside number ring. Again this is from trial and error, some people hold it vertical, others almost horizontal.

Using this method of targetting makes it easy to cope with adjustments, If you assume that if you target two darts with the same position, and force of throw they will go into the same point. In my scenario above if I find my dart going above the T20 I adjust my taargetting point downwards to compensate.
