Darts - Cricket Scoring

Question
My friends and I were playing Cricket darts the other day. All of us are new to game so we don't know what the exact rules are. My question is this:

After I had closed out all the number from 20 to 15, i had two more bullseyes to hit (i had already hit one earlier). I thought i ended the game when i hit the dead center of the board (a double bullseye), but the dart fell down after about 2 seconds. It stuck firm for a couple of seconds and just happen to fall. Does this count as a hit, and the game is over, or does the thrown dart not count?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Answer
I'm afraid that your bull does not count.

There are two rules that are common to all games.

For a dart to score , the point be in touch the dartboard, this may sound obvious but is relevant when darts hit wires for instance and end up in strange positions. Whatever the position, if the point is touching a score on the board ...it counts.

secondly, the points are only scored when the thrower removes the dart from the board. This is why you will usually see professional players remove the winning darts before turning to shake hands with their beaten opponent. Because your dart fell out before you removed it, it does not count!

As a tip, I often find that new players buy new darts with bright shiny points. These shiny points offer little friction and can lead to a lot of slide outs. I always reccommend to get some abrasive paper and rough the points all along their length.

Abrading the surface of the points give them much more grip!

Keep thowin'!

PS I sell darts sharpeners which can be used touroughen dart points in my EBAY shop under accessories!
