QUESTION: Hi ! I'm Leeana, a ComSci student from Philippines. I have a project in DBMS about creating tables, forms and queries in Access... Here's our project ...

FIGURE 1 shows a Grade Report that is mailed to students at the end of each semester. Prepare an ERD reflecting the data contained in the Grade Report. Assume that each course is taught by one instructor. Also draw this data model using the tool  you have told to use in the course.

THE REQUIREMENTS ARE:
a. Create the tables
b. Establish the relationships
c. Create the forms
d. Add records ( 5 records / table )

Our professor told us that if we can do the many to many relationship in STUDENT and COURSE. Also, she said that we can make our own business rule ... Now, I'm trying to do many to many relationship ... FIGURE 2 shows my work, and I think its not right.

And she said also that if the user enters the Student ID, the rest should be automatically appear based on its records and it should appear like the form shown form FIGURE 1. For example, I enter 1234 as my StudentId, and if I click it the rest of the information must be seen AS IN ALL including those 5 courses and its title, Instructor name and Location and Grade.

Now, I can't do that thing, to appear 5 records in CourseId and others by just giving the StudentId .. what should I do now ?? Actually, our deadline is tomorrow 12 am .. Please help me with this ... :))

ANSWER: Its not clear what the problem is. Your relationships are correct.

Your form should be set up as a main form and sub form. The main form bound to the student table and the subform to the StudentCourse table. They should be linked on StudentID. You can use a search combo to select a student and bring up the student's record (use the third option of the Combo wizard).

On your subform you use comboboxes to select the course and instructor.

Hope this helps,

Answer
I just told you, you use a subform bound to the Student Course table and use comboboxes to display the names.

Hope this helps,
