Subject: Condor 3 under Win98

Question
I have been running Condor 3 database on a computer under MS-DOS in Windows 3.1.  When I run the program under Windows 98 in a DOS window, and try to sort the database, I get an error FCB Unavailable, Abort, Fail?  I found information regarding FCBS Parameter and added a statement to my Config.sys file, FCBS=255,255 (the maximum number allowed) but still get the same error.
I see in an earlier posting, someone asked you if Condor can be run under WinXP and you suggested they go back to Win98.  Can you provide instructions on how to run Condor under Windows 98?

Answer
Hi, Carl.  You are right.  I use Condor within 98, and it runs really good--no problems at all.  So I am wondering what  you mean by "I run the program under Windows 98 in a DOS window,".  Do you really go directly to DOS from 98?  It should operate properly.  Perhaps  you need to go back and make sure you have installed ALL of the parts of Condor.  Now you say you have Condor 3; are you sure you have the entire files of Condor 3?  Make sure ALL of Condor is in the same file.  Examine what I have said, and make sure all is installed.  Then, if it does not work, come back to me.

John
